Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 2, 2026

THRD ("we," "us," or "our") operates a curated local event discovery platform available at thethrd.io and its associated mobile apps (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using THRD, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information We Collect

Account & profile data. When you register, we collect your full name, username, email address, password (stored as a secure hash), phone number, selected neighborhood or city, profile photo, and bio. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your email and name from that provider.

Creator-specific data. If you host events, we may collect your business address, hours of operation, website, hosting frequency, business persona type, and your Eventbrite connection. We store a Stripe customer ID and subscription ID for Pro billing — we never see or store your credit card number; all payment data is handled by Stripe.

Event content. Events you publish — title, description, category, date, time, location, price, capacity, ticketing link, and uploaded video or image media — are stored on our servers and may be visible to other users.

Usage & interaction data. We track event views, saves, likes, shares, external link taps, and dismissals, linked to your user ID. This includes the event's category, neighborhood, and creator. We also store reviews you write, collections you create, and invitations you send.

Taste & preference data. Your category affinities, neighborhood preferences, saved/liked/dismissed events, and followed creators are stored in your browser's local storage to personalize your feed and Fluer recommendations.

Conversational AI data. When you chat with Fluer, your messages, recent conversation history, a summary of available events, and your top taste categories are sent to our AI language model provider to generate recommendations. During onboarding, your "ideal day" description is similarly processed to extract preferences.

Top Friends & invitations. Friend display names and phone numbers you add are stored to enable event invitations. Friends are not contacted unless you initiate a share.

2. Location Information

Discovery location. The city or neighborhood you select to tailor your feed is stored in your browser's local storage. It stays on your device and is never tied to your account on our servers. You can change or clear it at any time from the Discover screen.

Device GPS (optional). When you choose "use current location," we request a one-time GPS reading from your device to suggest a nearby city or neighborhood. Your precise coordinates are used only for that instant to resolve a place name and are not retained or stored. This is entirely opt-in — you can always pick a location by searching instead.

Event location. Creators publish the neighborhood or city for each event they list. This location is part of the event content and is visible to other users so they can discover what's happening nearby. We do not track your real-time whereabouts or build a movement history.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your data to:

  • Create and manage your account and profile
  • Display events and personalize your discovery feed and Fluer recommendations
  • Process Pro subscription payments and manage your plan
  • Enable social features — sharing, inviting friends, following creators, and reviews
  • Provide creators with analytics (views, saves, likes, shares, conversion metrics)
  • Sync with linked third-party accounts (Eventbrite, Google Calendar)
  • Moderate content and review THRD Vetted badge requests
  • Improve, secure, and troubleshoot the Service

4. Third-Party Services

We rely on the following providers, each governed by their own privacy policy:

  • Google & Apple — sign-in (email, name)
  • Stripe — Pro subscription payments (email, payment details handled entirely by Stripe)
  • Eventbrite — optional event sync
  • Google Calendar — optional "save to calendar"
  • Google Places — address autocomplete
  • AI/LLM providers — Fluer recommendations, AI optimization, and preference extraction

If you use voice input, your speech is processed by your device's browser speech recognition API. We do not store raw audio.

5. How We Share Information

Public content. Creator profiles, published events, public collections, and reviews are visible to other users.

Invitations & sharing. When you invite a friend or share an event, the recipient's phone number and your message are used to send an invitation via your device's native messaging or share sheet.

Service providers. We share data with the third-party providers listed above solely to operate those features.

Legal compliance. We may disclose information when required by law or to protect our rights and safety.

We do not sell your personal information.

6. Data Retention & Deletion

We retain your data while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from Settings, which removes your published events, interaction records, top friends, and sent invitations from our servers. Browser-local data (taste profile, saved events) persists on your device until you clear browser storage.

7. Cookies & Local Storage

THRD uses your browser's local storage to remember your session, theme preference, taste profile, and saved events. We do not use advertising cookies.

8. Data Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data. However, no system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Passwords are hashed by our authentication provider and never stored in plaintext. Payment data never touches our servers — it is handled entirely by Stripe.

9. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction (including under Canada's PIPEDA and applicable provincial law), you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information, and to withdraw consent. To exercise these rights, contact us through the Help Center.

10. Children's Privacy

THRD is not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe we have, please contact us and we will delete it.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here with a new "last updated" date. Continued use of THRD after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.

12. Contact Us

If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or your data, reach out through the Help Center's Fluer Support chat or email us at the address listed in the app's Help Center.
